Phonics readers are an excellent introduction to reading. The stories and word pages are correlated with phonics sounds that are presented in class, beginning with one-vowel words and then progressing to two-vowel words. Students will gain a firm foundation in reading and develop a love for books.

Numbers skills reinforce number concepts and formation through 100, addition and subtraction combinations, number sequences, number words, telling time, and working with money.

Bible lessons teach Creation and the Life of Christ. Science and Social Studies will round out their learning.

Math

Key to success in math is a strong foundation of number sense and comprehension of the concepts. Students must have a thorough understanding of the mathematical processes and know how to determine an accurate answer. While memorization is a key element, a student who tries to survive on memorization alone will struggle.

Elementary math incorporates frequent review along with the logical introduction of new topics. Students become critical thinkers and problem solvers. Education is more than just getting good grades. It is learning to think for oneself and find the correct answer as well as to explain and justify the answer. God not only created the world but also created the order that math seeks to define. The orderliness of math points to the Creator of order.

Language Arts

Learning to read and write is one of the most important and powerful achievements in life. Its value is clearly seen in the faces of young children. Teachers are pleased when students have the proud, confident smile of the capable reader which contrasts sharply with the furrowed brow and sullen frown of the discouraged non-reader.  Ensuring that all young children reach their potential as readers and writers is the shared task of teachers, administrators, and families.

The purpose of the language arts program is to develop children’s reading, writing, speaking, and listening abilities while enabling children to use language for acquiring knowledge, communicating with others, and for enjoyment.

Bible

The goal of our Bible curriculum and all of our academic subjects is intended to help students have a personal relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. A strong Bible program requires that students not only acquire skills and knowledge about God but also grow in faith and demonstrate that faith through their behavior.

The Bible is the main text of our Bible classes. Each week the school has a chapel that provides worship, prayer, and a message from God's Word.

Science, Social Studies & Health

God is the Master Designer of the world around us. What He created is good. His world is intended for us to be His steward. Our students should learn the wonder of this amazing creation. The studies of plants, animals, insects, energy, health, the seasons, and the five senses provide an excellent introduction to science.

With an emphasis on building student interest and

augmenting students’ reading skills. Hands-on activities and demonstrations also increase students’ comprehension of basic science concepts.
