The Education Savings Account (ESA) program allows eligible students who are zoned to attend a Memphis/Shelby County district school to use state and local money toward education expenses, including tuition and/or fees at approved private schools.

1. The student must be a resident of Tennessee and is zoned to attend a Memphis-SHelby district school.

2. The student is entering Kindergarten or will be in 1st through 12th grade.

3. The student is enrolling in Tennessee school for the first time OR was enrolled in and attended a Tennessee

public school for the full 2022-23 school year OR used an ESA in the 2022-23 school year.

4. Previously enrolled in and attended a Tennessee public school for the entire school year in 2019-2020,

2020-2021, or 2021-2022.

5. Was eligible to enroll in a Tennessee public school for the first time in one of the following school years:

2019-2020, 2020-2021, or 2021-2022.

If you are asking about enrolling as an ESA student, the answer is no. ESA enrollment closed on January 2. If you want to enroll now, without an ESA, you can enroll at HBA. However, we always first have assess potential students. ESA enrollment is now open for August.
